My name is Sofia Villegas Algarra, and I am a Venezuelan singer and songwriter, born in 2001. In 2006, my family and I moved to Bogota, Colombia, where I started first grade at Fundación Gimnasio Los Portales. When I was in third grade, I was selected for the only soloist spot in my school’s chorus program. My parents, Ignacio and Valentina, then decided to move once again. In Weston, Florida, I started a new life and completed my middle school years at The Sagemont School. My native language is Spanish, but I am now proud to be bilingual, speaking fluent English and Spanish. Currently, I attend Cypress Bay High School and enjoy taking singing, guitar, and production lessons with Professor Claudio Corsi. This experience has proved very valuable, as I am determined to improve my skills and expand my knowledge base.
I have participated in numerous public performances as well as private ones in various locations, from restaurants and bars to parks and talent shows. Not only has this helped me to grow as a performer, but it has also strengthened my passion for music. I perform both covers of other artists’ songs and my own original compositions. My catalog includes various genres, my favorites being bachata, merengue, pop, urban latin, and ballads.
In addition to singing and songwriting, I love to travel. I have an insatiable wanderlust and curiosity for other cultures. I feel fortunate to have visited four different continents and more than twenty-five countries. Traveling has allowed me to learn so much and gain an appreciation for cultural differences. My dream is to explore, songwrite, sing, and share my passion with as many people as I possibly can.
